Different BBL Shapes

Thinking of getting a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) to give your bum the shape it deserves? Despite what many think, Brazilian Butt Lifts aren’t a “one bum fits all” situation. There are many different shapes that a surgeon might be able to sculpt a patient’s bottom into after assessing the patient’s starting figure and available donor fat.

To understand how these shapes are sculpted, we need to understand what exactly happens during a BBL. During a BBL, a surgeon is able to remove unwanted fat deposits from different areas of the body through liposuction. This fat is then purified, transferred into cannulas (tube-like syringes with a blunt tip), and placed into specific areas of the patient’s bottom to sculpt out a specific shape.

Many seek out body contouring procedures that can give them the figure they’ve always wanted in a more natural way. BBL’s are able to do this as they use the patient’s own fat instead of any silicone or artificial fillings/ implants. BBL results look, feel, and act like a person’s natural bum because of this.

So, once a patient has decided they want a BBL, how do they communicate which shape they want from their BBL? All patients want a fuller, more voluptuous, and perkier bottom from their BBL: but they don’t always know which shape they’ll be getting. Surgeons are able to tell patients which BBL shapes will suit their bodies for a beautiful silhouette.

Common Butt Shapes Pre A BBL Procedure

Inverted (V) Fullness/volume is concentrated in the upper bottom/ lower back region of the buttocks. The lower region of the buttocks narrows down, lacking in volume, giving the buttocks an inverted appearance. This shape is referred to as the “V” or triangle would be best to take donor fat from and give a realistic expectation of how much volume and fullness a patient can achieve. After speaking with a surgeon and seeing the proposed BBL results, patients are able to confirm if the newly designed shape is the one they’d like. Patients will be able to visually show their surgeons which areas they’d like their surgeon to add more volume to for their perfectly shaped BBL bottom.

Square Bum (H) This shape resembles a box/square as the fullness is distributed throughout the entire buttocks region. This shape tends to have a larger width but is flatter with less volume. This shape is referred to as the “H” or triangle shape. Surgeons often take donor fat from the flank and abdominal areas for this type of shape.

Heart (A) Fullness/volume is concentrated in the lower region of the buttocks with a thinner waist for an hourglass-like figure. Those with this shape have wider hips for an ideal shape but are seeking to add a little more weight to their bottoms. This shape is referred to as the “A” or square shape. Surgeons often seek to enhance this shape’s natural beauty by adding more fullness and volume.

Rounded (O)This shape resembles the heart shape but, the waist is less defined and the bottom is naturally rounder, fuller and perkier. Like with heart-shaped bottoms, surgeons often seek to enhance this shape’s natural beauty by adding even more fullness and volume. This shape is referred to as the “O” shape or “bubble butt”.

BBL Shapes Most Requested By Patients

The beauty of a BBL lies in its ability to be customized to fit the desired outcome of the patient, leading to various shapes and sizes. Those who undergo BBL’s are often seeking heart (A) or rounded (O) sculpted shape. Surgeons will often try to give patients a combination of both of these shapes to get the fullness, volume, and perkiness that a rounded(O) shape provides and the hourglass-like shape (cinched waist) that a heart shape (A) provides.

Depending on a patient’s pre-procedure body, a surgeon will recommend areas where it would be best to take donor fat from and give a realistic expectation of how much volume and fullness a patient can achieve. After speaking with a surgeon and seeing the proposed BBL results, patients are able to confirm if the newly designed shape is the one they’d like. Patients will be able to visually show their surgeons which areas they’d like their surgeon to add more volume to for their perfectly shaped BBL bottom.
