Speaker: Dr. Mark Schusterman, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon at Avana Plastic Surgery - Let's talk about BBLs, where we inject fat into your backside to enhance your figure. People often ask how much of the fat stays and if it’s permanent. - The fat is permanent. Some of it will get absorbed — we over-correct to account for that — but the fact is, it’s permanent. It’s not going anywhere. - If you lose weight, you can lose some of the volume. We recommend that you wait six weeks to start working out, but once you do start working out, it’s not going to hurt anything and can even enhance the overall look of your result. Key Takeaways
• Permanency: Transferred fat that survives the initial healing phase is permanent. • Absorption: It is normal for some fat to be absorbed by the body, which is why surgeons often over-fill the area initially. • Weight Fluctuations: Changes in body weight will affect the fat cells in the buttocks just like anywhere else on the body. • Recovery: Patients should wait at least six weeks before starting a workout routine.
